Where Dallas goes to eat.

Plano's Legacy West is the metro's dining district — 26 restaurants profiled, all within walking distance of each other, from Bulla Gastrobar to Whiskey Cake. Beyond the patios there's Historic Downtown Plano's arts district and the trails at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, and the DART Red and Orange lines make it the easiest suburb to reach without a car.

Good to know

Best time to visit

Spring and fall — patio weather, and Legacy West is built for it. Summer is brutally hot; winter is mild and quiet.

Getting around

DART Red and Orange lines stop at Downtown Plano, Parker Road, and Bush Turnpike — about 35–40 minutes to downtown Dallas by rail. Otherwise drive; once you're in Legacy West, everything is walkable.

What a day costs

Around $100–$150 a day: a Legacy West dinner ($$), a $6 DART day pass, and free trails and downtown strolling.
